Michael engages all sectors of our community to break down the stereotypes surrounding homelessness and to work collaboratively to end chronic homelessness in Australia. As well as his work as CEO of Perth-based homelessness service and community housing provider, St Patrick’s Community Support Centre Limited, he is the Chair of Imagined Futures, a place-based human services collective impact group spanning all levels of government, along with non-government agencies, community, business and philanthropy, in the South Metropolitan Region of Perth. Michael is currently the Deputy Chair of Shelter WA, and of the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia. He serves on the Steering Committee of the WA Alliance to End Homelessness, and has recently retired from the Board of the WA Council of Social Service following 6 years of service. He has extensive governance experience having served in a number of Board roles across the community and government sectors for over 30 years.
Michael’s dedication and leadership was recognised at the IPAA IPAA WA Achievement Awards 2022, where he was awarded Leader of the Year in the Not-for-Profit Sector, and in 2023 he was appointed a Fellow of IPAA WA. Michael is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (WA).
As an independent HumanAbility Board Director, Michael is a member the Audit and Risk Committee.
