Tasmanian Workforce Network
HumanAbility has established the Tasmanian Workforce Network to strengthen cross sector collaboration and ensure Tasmania has a strong voice in national skills, training and workforce planning.
About
The Tasmanian Workforce Network brings together employers, government, unions, peak bodies, training providers and other stakeholders from across aged care and disability services, children’s education and care, health, human services and sport and recreation.
Meeting twice a year in locations across Tasmania, the Network provides a forum to share insights, strengthen connections and discuss the skills, training and workforce priorities affecting Tasmania.
HumanAbility convenes the Network with support from a dedicated Steering Committee, connecting Tasmanian perspectives with our national work as a Jobs and Skills Council.
Why this Network matters
Tasmania faces distinct workforce challenges and opportunities, including demographic change, growing demand for services and the need to strengthen pathways into the workforce.
The Network provides opportunities to:
- identify shared and emerging workforce priorities
- explore Tasmania specific skills and training needs
- contribute to state and national workforce planning
- strengthen collaboration and connections across sectors.
Insights from the Network help inform HumanAbility’s national workforce planning and support skills and training responses that reflect Tasmania’s needs.
How the Network operates
HumanAbility works with the Steering Committee to deliver two in person Network forums each year in different locations across Tasmania.
Forums are shaped by sector, Tasmanian and national priorities and provide opportunities for facilitated discussion, consultation, information sharing and networking.
The Network is open to stakeholders across HumanAbility’s sectors with an interest in skills, training and workforce development.
Upcoming events
The next Tasmanian Workforce Network Forum will take place on Wednesday, 23 September 2026 in Launceston.
The Forum will bring stakeholders together to discuss workforce partnerships, learner readiness and wellbeing and the latest updates from HumanAbility and Skills Tasmania. Participants will also have an opportunity to contribute to HumanAbility’s Microcredentials Research Project consultation.

Steering Committee
A dedicated Steering Committee brings together representatives from peak bodies, unions, employers, training providers and government to help guide the Network.
The Steering Committee:
- helps shape the focus and priorities of the Network
- provides input into forum agendas and priority topics
- supports engagement across sector networks
- advises on locations and venues
- contributes to discussion and facilitation at Network forums.
