About the Workforce Plan

The Workforce Plan 2024 provides a roadmap to address workforce challenges and ensure Australia’s care and support sectors are equipped to meet future demands.

Developed in collaboration with industry leaders, government, unions, educators, students and those with lived experience, the Workforce Plan highlights critical challenges, identifies key actions and celebrates the progress already underway.

It informs our work as a Jobs and Skills Council, the priorities of governments and the needs of our sectors. It also reflects actions required because of recent royal commissions, enquiries and government policy.

Next steps

The launch of the Workforce Plan marks the start of the next phase of our work. By continuing to collaborate with government, industry, unions, educators, students and people with lived experience, we will:

  • Address workforce challenges through targeted initiatives.
  • Refine and advance solutions with ongoing stakeholder input.
  • Monitor and report progress to ensure the Plan’s goals are achieved.

Together, we’re building a sustainable and adaptable workforce to meet Australia’s care and support needs, now and into the future.
