Dr. Fiona Macdonald

Acting Director Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute

Dr Fiona Macdonald is Acting Director of The Australia Institute’s Centre for Future Work, which conducts progressive economic research on work, employment and labour markets

 Fiona has worked in the community sector and as an academic researching work and employment for many years and has written and published extensively on care and support work, working arrangements and on the political economy of care and support work organisation.

Her research has explored workforce skills and capabilities, drawing on her experience as work value expert practitioner. In 2021, her book Individualising Risk: Paid Care Work in the New Gig Economy was published by Palgrave Macmillan. 

 

HumanAbility collaborates with industry to conduct research, identify job market demands, assess skill requirements, create adaptive qualifications and training packages, and spearhead workforce development initiatives.
